The United States proved a fertile ground for the composition of song in the twentieth century. Even more recently, in the new millennium, composers have cross-pollinated music and poetry to yield a bumper crop of brilliant work. Six singers present song cycles written in the last decade, dealing with love, loss, memory, and hope. Accessible and melodic, but still complex in concept and harmony, this concert is a must-see for lovers of art song and poetry alike.
