Malia Ropp, a native of the Pacific Northwest, received a Bachelor of Music from Wheaton College and a Master of Music from Northwestern University. Malia covered the role of Patience with the Savoyaires and sang the role of Dorothée in Massenet’s Cendrillon with Petite Opera this fall. Her most recent roles include Fatme in The Rose of Stambul and Daisy in The Circus Princess with Chicago Folks Operetta. Other recent roles include Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Benjamin Britten and the cover of Micaela in Carmen with Dell’Arte Opera in New York City. Malia has also performed Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Elisetta in The Secret Marriage by Cimarosa, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Meg in Little Women and Dorabella in Così fan Tutte. Malia’s solo oratorio repertoire includes Vivaldi’s Gloria, Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. With VOX 3 Collective, she recently sang arias by Albert Lortzing, and the soprano solo in Amos Gillespie’s Honor Requiem. She has participated in summer programs with Des Moines Metro Opera, International Institute of Vocal Arts (Italy), Siena Study of Music and Art (Italy) and the Kentucky Institute for International Studies (Austria).
